As an Access Control Security Officer at a government location, you will help maintain a secure, welcoming environment by managing entry points, verifying credentials, monitoring access, and communicating professionally with staff and visitors. You will support security-related operations through visible presence, routine patrols, and incident reporting while helping to deter unauthorized activity. This is a driving position. Requirements

  • A valid driver’s license is required in the state where the job is located.
  • Have at least 6 months of security-related experience.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

  • Access control and badge experience is preferred.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • X-ray screening experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to staff, visitors, residents, and other authorized individuals while carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities at a government juvenile services location.
  • Control access to the facility by verifying identification, credentials, and authorization; documenting visitor entry and exit; issuing visitor passes; and directing individuals in accordance with site procedures.
  • Monitor entry points, access-control systems, alarms, and cameras as assigned; report unusual activity, unauthorized access attempts, and equipment concerns to appropriate personnel.
  • Respond to incidents, disturbances, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, following established reporting and notification procedures.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned interior and exterior areas, including entrances, parking areas, and perimeter locations, to help to deter unauthorized activity and identify security-related concerns.
