About The Position

The Pima County Justice Services Department has multiple openings for our Justice Navigator position which provides referral and support services to individuals released from law enforcement or jail custody. Responsibilities involve individual engagement and referrals to community-based services (i.e., housing, mental and substance treatment, and other supportive services). Additionally, this position provides encouragement and support to individuals following best practices.

Requirements

  • Associates degree from an accredited college or university with a major in psychology, criminal justice, or a field closely related field as determined by the department head at the time of recruitment OR: Three years of experience directly related to the nature of the criminal justice system, mental health system or public housing.
  • Valid driver license is at time of application.
  • Valid AZ driver license is at time of appointment.

Nice To Haves

  • Lived experience with the criminal justice system and a demonstrated commitment to supporting others in reentry and justice system navigation.
  • Current Peer Support Certification.
  • Experience building trust and rapport with clients, providing encouragement, support, and resources to individuals with justice system involvement, utilizing best practices and evidence-based programming.
  • Experience coordinating with diverse stakeholders, including service providers, reentry services, law enforcement, courts, correctional staff, and community-based organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Engages with individuals exiting police or jail custody, and refers to treatment, housing, and other community resources
  • Develops partnerships with other agencies, collaboratives, associations and community organizations
  • Provides encouragement, support and resources to individuals with justice system involvement utilizing best-practices and evidence-based programming
  • Maintains accurate and reliable data for program evaluation.
