About The Position

Freedom Technology Solutions Group is seeking a Junior Technical Writer responsible for preparing, reviewing, revising, and maintaining technical documents. This includes documentation for software and systems engineering, system operations, testing, and user guides. The role involves creating code documentation, implementation guides, end-user guides, field documentation, data definition, and data flow documentation. The Junior Technical Writer will also format technical publications using various resources and consult with technical personnel.

Requirements

  • Understand basic concepts and write technical copy for various types of documents for a program/project of similar complexity.
  • An active security clearance with polygraph.

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) years experience as a TW in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required.
  • Associate’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
  • Two (2) years of additional TW experience may be substituted for an Associate’s degree.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, revise, and maintain technical documents, including software and systems engineering, system operations, testing, and user documentation.
  • Write and edit technical documentation for all of the project’s hardware and software, including installation, configuration, and how-to documentation.
  • Create code documentation for software.
  • Produce implementation guides and end-user guides for capabilities.
  • Provide field, data definition, and data flow documentation.
  • Format technical publications from pamphlets, technical drawings, and consultations with technical personnel and other available resources.
  • Assist in preparing and maintaining operations documentation, user guides and manuals, and technical publications.
  • Understand basic concepts (including basic grammar concepts) and be responsible for writing technical copy for various types of documents.
  • Gather technical information and prepare written text.
  • Maintain a current internal documentation library.
  • Use multiple word processing and presentation tools such as MS Word, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • Work with developers to produce quality documentation and training materials.
  • Work on all phases of documentation.
  • Prepare reports, responses, and briefings targeted to a wide range of audiences.
  • Coordinate layout and design of documents.
