About The Position

We are hiring an Assistant Project Manager to support commercial HVAC and mechanical construction projects in a hands-on subcontractor environment. This role is designed for someone ready to grow into a Project Manager, with increasing ownership of project execution over time. You’ll work closely with field teams, vendors, and project leadership to support HVAC installations, piping systems, and day-to-day coordination from preconstruction through closeout. This is a strong opportunity for a junior PM or Project Engineer looking to step into a long-term project management track within a fast-paced contractor setting.

Requirements

2–5 years of experience in commercial HVAC or mechanical construction (APM, Project Engineer, or similar role)
Exposure to commercial HVAC systems (residential-only experience will not be considered)
Background with a mechanical contractor, HVAC subcontractor, or similar environment
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications
Strong interest in growing into a Project Manager role
Basic understanding of scheduling and cost tracking tools
Comfortable in a hands-on, small to mid-sized contractor environment
Strong communication and organizational skills

Responsibilities

Support the execution of commercial HVAC and mechanical projects from preconstruction through closeout
Assist with coordinating field crews, subcontractors, and internal teams across active job sites
Track project schedules, costs, and progress, escalating issues when needed
Read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and construction documents
Assist with RFIs, submitters, change orders, and project documentation
Coordinate with vendors and support procurement of materials and equipment
Communicate with clients, inspectors, and internal stakeholders to keep projects moving
Participate in jobsite visits to support field operations and monitor progress
