About The Position

The Junior Project Manager (JrPM) is responsible for oversight and management of small projects valued at under $25,000. This includes managing the planning, coordination, and delivery of small operational, deferred maintenance, and end-user initiated projects (such as Faculty, Safety & Security) across campus. The incumbent will be expected to manage between 20 and 30 projects per year. The ideal candidate is proactive and accountable, possesses a strong technical understanding of building construction and systems, and is well-versed in project management methodologies. This individual will excel in communication and problem-solving and be capable of effectively collaborating with professional consultants, contractors, and various stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Area (optional): Engineering, Construction Mgt., Architecture, Interior Design, or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in a similar role
  • A strong commitment to customer relations and institutional objectives.
  • Effective troubleshooting, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to understand and work with budgets and objectives.
  • Strong analytical and project management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Microsoft Projects and a working knowledge of databases.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the planning, coordination, and delivery of small capital, operational, deferred maintenance, and end-user initiated projects across campus, typically valued up to approximately $25,000 per project.
  • Coordinate contractors, consultants, suppliers, and internal Facilities Management trades to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within approved budgets.
  • Develop project scopes, cost estimates, schedules, and supporting documentation in consultation with campus stakeholders and Facilities Management staff.
  • Ensure compliance with University procurement policies by preparing quotation requests, coordinating vendor selection, and supporting contract documentation.
  • Monitor project budgets and expenditures, review contractor invoices, and support financial tracking and reporting for assigned projects.
  • Maintain regular communication with faculty, staff, and departments regarding project scope, timelines, and impacts to building operations.
  • Maintain project records including scopes, procurement documentation, drawings, approvals, and project close-out documentation.
  • Conduct site visits to monitor project progress, quality of installations, and contractor compliance with safety standards and University policies.
  • Any other general duties as required.
