MACH-TB Junior Mission Systems Engineer

SAIC•Crane, IN
•Onsite

About The Position

SAIC is seeking an engineer to support the MACH-TB Program Office’s pre- and post-mission analysis activities, including on-site processing of telemetry data. The role supports generation of Best Estimate Trajectory (BET) and Quick-Look Brief (QLB) products using Launch Vehicle and MACH-TB test vehicle telemetry. It includes oversight of decrypted telemetry links and other data used for trajectory and performance analysis, and requires experience with navigation solutions, telemetry formats, and real-time GN&C data processing in aerospace or test environments. The position is full-time and day shift, based in Crane, Indiana, with Huntsville, Alabama, also listed as a location. It requires on-site work and approximately 10% travel. An interim Secret clearance is required to start, with the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance. U.S. citizenship is required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline, such as aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or computer science.
  • Experience in telemetry data analysis or a related GN&C field.
  • Proficiency in six-degree-of-freedom analysis and generation of navigation solutions.
  • Strong expertise interpreting telemetry format data and creating corresponding data products.
  • Experience with decryption processes and decrypted telemetry streams, CH10 format, and IRIG-B timing systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team in multidisciplinary environments and complete technically complex tasks under tight timelines.
  • Ability to work on-site and coordinate with external stakeholders.
  • Interim Secret clearance required to start, with ability to obtain Top Secret clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship required.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in an engineering or technical field.
  • Familiarity with mobile telemetry systems, HWIL/SIL testing, and high-fidelity aerospace system simulations.
  • Experience with programming languages and data manipulation for telemetry applications, such as Python or MATLAB.

Responsibilities

  • Help lead end-to-end telemetry processing for MACH-TB and ensure timely, accurate generation of BET and QLB products.
  • Oversee telemetry data handling, including decryption when necessary, selection of data sources, and processing of individual telemetry antenna recordings.
  • Manage and operate telemetry rack equipment to receive decrypted telemetry data and clock links and IRIG-B timing signals from Range or Vehicle providers.
  • Process telemetry inputs to generate six-degree-of-freedom navigation solutions, including GPS, IMU, blended GPS/IMU, and IMU-only solutions when available, as well as body-frame definitions.
  • Analyze telemetry format documents and ensure documentation or access to word and frame locations, synchronization patterns, data rates, scale factors, bias and offset factors, and engineering units.
  • Manage and validate data quality and integrity, ensuring a nominal trajectory file drives decrypted hardware-in-the-loop and software-in-the-loop testing.
  • Analyze and interpret information from pre-launch through post-impact or loss of signal.
  • Deliver and communicate analysis results to stakeholders in a timely manner.
  • Work on-site and coordinate with external stakeholders, including Range or Vehicle providers.
