About The Position

The Junior Maintenance Technician supports the maintenance team by performing routine preventative maintenance, basic inspections, and general repairs on diesel trucks, trailers, heavy equipment, and stationary processing equipment. This position works under the guidance of the Lead Mechanic and Senior Maintenance Technicians while developing the skills necessary to diagnose, repair, and maintain a wide variety of equipment. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, eager to learn, dependable, and comfortable working in an industrial environment. This role includes routine maintenance on Class A trucks, trailers, yellow iron, and stationary equipment such as conveyors, trommel screeners, and grinders. The Junior Maintenance Technician will also assist senior technicians with more advanced diagnostics and repairs while accurately documenting maintenance activities using the company's maintenance management system. This is a safety-sensitive position requiring attention to detail, accountability, and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Mechanical aptitude with a willingness to learn diesel and heavy equipment maintenance
  • Basic computer and data entry skills
  • Ability to accurately complete digital work orders and maintenance records
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ years of maintenance, mechanic, construction, agricultural, automotive, or diesel experience
  • Vocational or technical school training in diesel, automotive, or industrial maintenance
  • Experience using hand and power tools
  • Familiarity with preventative maintenance programs
  • Experience operating forklifts or other equipment (preferred but not required)
  • CDL is a plus but not required

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on diesel trucks, trailers, heavy equipment, and stationary equipment.
  • Conduct oil changes, filter replacements, fluid checks, lubrication, and scheduled maintenance services.
  • Inspect equipment for wear, leaks, damage, and safety concerns.
  • Assist Senior Maintenance Technicians with mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine repairs.
  • Replace basic components such as belts, hoses, lights, batteries, and filters.
  • Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of shop equipment and work areas.
  • Complete work orders and maintenance documentation accurately using computer-based maintenance software.
  • Enter equipment data, maintenance records, and inspection results into company systems.
  • Assist with inventory control, parts organization, and shop housekeeping.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and basic diagnostic equipment safely.
  • Report equipment issues and repair needs to supervisors.
  • Follow all company safety policies, environmental regulations, and maintenance procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment.
  • Continue developing technical skills through hands-on training and mentorship.
