About The Position

The primary role of the Junior Health & Safety Coordinator (HSC) is to ensure that the resort is compliant with all Alberta Occupational Health & Safety legislation. The HSC will be responsible for implementation, execution and maintenance of the Resort’s Health & Safety Program.

Requirements

• Post-secondary education in an Occupational Health & Safety discipline
• A minimum of 1-year experience in a Health & Safety role for an organization of 700 plus associates preferably in a hospitality environment
• Extensive knowledge of Alberta Occupational Health & Safety Legislation
• Strong computer skills
• Excellent presentation skills
• Excellent leadership, management, relationship building and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the implementation, execution and maintenance of the Resort’s Health & Safety Program
• Leadership and supervision of the Health & Safety Committee to ensure they are effective and meeting established objectives.
• Provide support to all departments at River Cree to ensure they are following all HS legislative requirements.
• Participate in the development and/or review of SWP/SOP as requested.
• Provide safety orientations as needed to new hires and contractors.
• Continuously evaluate the safety program, tools available, the effectiveness of meetings, associate education and training programs, processes and make recommendations for improvement.
• Utilize safety management software to document incidents, training, policy and procedures, and inspections.
• Create a culture of open communication, collaboration and risk management.
• To look out for the safety of yourself, co-workers and to follow all Health and Safety requirements in the workplace.
• Help as requested with internal or external audits and corrective action plans
• All other duties as assigned
