About The Position

The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Coordinator, under the direction of the Sr. EHS Manager is responsible for the coordination of occupational safety, environmental, and workers compensation compliance, as well as training programs and occupational health issues. This position serves as a liaison between employee safety activity and management teams and reports directly to the Sr. EHS Manager in efforts to support Hans Kissles “See Something, Say Something, Do Something” Culture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety or related field preferred or combination of Associates Degree and related experience.
  • 2-5 years EHS experience in a manufacturing environment, food manufacturing preferred.
  • Knowledge of EPA and OSHA regulations and requirements.
  • Knowledge of state specific Workers Compensation Law/Regulations.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision.
  • Ability to train and coach others
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, occasional off shift- AM/PM

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all company, state, and federal standards
  • Keep Management informed of all current and new environmental hygiene, and safety laws and regulations.
  • Serve as site subject matter expert on all safety and environmental issues.
  • Work closely with employees and management on all levels to ensure safety policy is being followed and enforced.
  • Ensure personnel are wearing the appropriate PPE in accordance with company standards.
  • Serve as Safety Committee Chief and lead monthly safety committee meetings
  • Conduct monthly Safety Reviews with site leadership to review safety data/trends.
  • Investigate accidents related to personal injury or property damage and develop corrective actions.
  • Conduct safety training in accordance with company training matrix.
  • Detect and report improper operation, faulty equipment, unsafe guarding and unusual conditions to the site leadership.
  • Conduct periodic safety and health walk-through inspections of all departments.
  • Prepare environmental reports for the appropriate regulatory agencies, to include management of the wastewater system.
  • Monitor all waste activities such as generation, storage, inventory, transportation, and disposal.
  • Update and maintain site 300 Log and Form 301 to ensure compliance with OSHA standards.
  • Effectively communicate with vendors and 3rd part contractors for safety related issues.
  • Conduct routine inspections to include but not limited to fire extinguisher, emergency eye wash and shower stations.
  • Maintain emergency response plans.
  • Conduct drills and post-incident reviews.
