Requirements
- A college diploma in Geotechnical, Geological, Construction, or Civil Engineering
- 1–3 years of related experience in geotechnical or materials testing environments
- Working knowledge of soil mechanics, including the Unified Soil Classification System
- Experience with geotechnical drilling and instrument installation
- Construction monitoring experience, ideally on active field projects
- Experience working in the Alberta Oil Sands region (considered an asset)
- Flexibility to work rotational schedules (1–3 weeks on, days and/or nights)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with high attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to work long, physically demanding hours in remote locations and adverse weather conditions
- Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform strenuous tasks such as shoveling and augering
- A valid, unrestricted Alberta Class 5 driver’s licence and ability to provide a satisfactory driving abstract

Responsibilities
- Champion a strong health, safety, and environmental culture by applying site‑specific HSE policies and procedures
- Monitor geotechnical drilling programs, instrumentation installations, and core sample collection activities
- Install and maintain geotechnical instrumentation supporting slope stability and foundation assessments
- Perform construction monitoring to ensure compliance with design and quality standards
- Conduct materials field and laboratory testing in accordance with applicable standards
- Complete geotechnical core logging and instrumentation monitoring
- Prepare clear, accurate field and laboratory reports that support sound engineering decisions
