About The Position

As a junior geotechnical engineer, you’ll execute geotechnical engineering tasks. You’ll provide analysis, design, construction support and geotechnical site investigation services, within the context of overall project execution objectives. With us, you’ll get the opportunity to technically manage and direct geotechnical site investigations, supervise investigation activities, conduct laboratory materials testing and prepare technical reports. You will also review and supervise civil/geotechnical-related construction activities, conduct geotechnical engineering analysis, including slope stability, seepage and deformation analysis, and work on rock mechanics applications, including field mapping, geotechnical core logging, rock mass characterization, rock stability assessment, and reinforcement design. Additionally, you will plan geotechnical instrumentation, supervise installations, and monitor and report results. You will play a role in multidisciplinary project teams, ensuring deliverable technical quality, and collaborate and participate in technical discussions with team members and clients. You will also participate in proposal work and travel to project sites within the U.S. and potentially internationally.

Requirements

  • B.Sc. or master’s degree in mining engineering, geological engineering, or civil engineering with a focus in geotechnical engineering
  • Registered engineer in training (EIT) or eligible to take the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam within one year of starting
  • 1 to 3 years of relevant professional geotechnical engineering experience
  • Strong academic background and solid understanding of soil and rock mechanics
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, technical writing experience and presentation skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team
  • Ability and willingness to travel to project sites

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual in Spanish and/or French
  • Familiarity with geotechnical design software: SLOPE/W, SEEP/W, Rocscience software suite, FLAC, and more
