Junior Frontend Engineer & Technology Support | Dermstore
About The Position
THG is a global ecommerce group focused on beauty and sports nutrition, with more than 2,500 employees. THG Beauty operates online retailers including LOOKFANTASTIC, Cult Beauty, and Dermstore, and works with owned and third-party beauty brands. Dermstore specializes in professional-grade skincare and clinical beauty products. This hybrid role combines early-career frontend engineering with onsite IT and desktop support at the New York office. The successful candidate will contribute to modern headless ecommerce applications using JavaScript, working alongside senior engineers, and will provide hands-on technology assistance to employees. The position offers the opportunity to develop frontend engineering skills while drawing on existing IT support experience. The work involves collaboration across engineering, product, UX, CRO, and global Technology teams, including colleagues in the UK.
Requirements
- 3–4 years of experience in desktop support, end-user IT, service desk, or onsite technology support.
- Strong hands-on troubleshooting experience across laptops, desktops, applications, and peripherals.
- Experience supporting Dell/Windows and macOS.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft 365.
- Experience or exposure to Entra ID and Intune.
- Experience supporting Okta or a similar authentication platform.
- Basic networking knowledge, including Wi-Fi and TCP/IP.
- Experience supporting meeting rooms, AV, video conferencing, device management, and onboarding/offboarding.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Some experience building frontend applications through professional experience, internships, university, bootcamp, personal projects, or open-source contributions.
- Good working knowledge of JavaScript, including vanilla JavaScript and ES6+.
- Understanding of HTML, CSS, APIs, and modern web development.
- Understanding of core programming concepts, including events, error handling, inheritance, and asynchronous programming.
- Comfort working with senior engineers, learning new technologies, collaborating with technical and non-technical teams, and adapting to changing priorities.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with or exposure to React, Vue, or a similar frontend framework.
- Awareness of web accessibility and WCAG principles.
- Interest in headless ecommerce, SSG, GraphQL, frontend performance, and modern web technologies.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain frontend applications using JavaScript/ES6+ and frameworks such as React, Vue, or similar.
- Contribute to fast, scalable, secure, and accessible headless ecommerce experiences.
- Work with senior engineers to understand system architecture, APIs, data structures, and system communication.
- Contribute to frontend performance, accessibility, security, and observability.
- Write clean, maintainable code and follow development standards and best practices.
- Participate in code reviews and pair programming.
- Work with UX, CRO, Product, and Engineering teams to deliver features and improvements.
- Develop knowledge of headless ecommerce, SSG, APIs, and GraphQL.
- Help create intuitive, inclusive user experiences and share ideas about new technologies.
- Provide hands-on onsite technology support to employees.
- Troubleshoot laptops, desktops, applications, operating systems, and peripherals in Dell/Windows and macOS environments.
- Support Microsoft 365, including Teams, Outlook, and SharePoint.
- Assist with device enrollment, configuration, replacements, onboarding, and offboarding.
- Provide support for Microsoft Entra ID, Intune, and Okta; troubleshoot authentication issues and escalate complex problems.
- Provide basic Wi-Fi and network troubleshooting.
- Support meeting rooms, AV, video conferencing, workplace technology, and corporate printing.
- Maintain technical documentation and asset records.
- Provide technology support for employee onboarding and offboarding.
- Work closely with global Technology teams, including colleagues in the UK.
