The Junior Field Technician (L1) supports data center operations under the direct supervision of an assigned mentor technician. This entry-level role focuses on foundational, non-technical tasks while the technician builds the knowledge and skills needed to advance within the organization. A structured mentorship program provides hands-on exposure to data center environments, safety procedures, and industry standards. Fieldwork may include overtime, weekends, holidays, and off-hours. Travel may be required based on business needs. Other duties, responsibilities, and qualifications may be required or assigned. The technician manages and organizes materials, tools, and equipment; assists with inventory, deliveries, and shipment verification; supports project labor such as cable-routing preparation and labeling; maintains clean and safe work areas; and documents daily activities for supervisor review. The role also includes escorting visitors and contractors and following facility access and security procedures. Capacity-critical or technical tasks must not be performed unless a mentor technician is present to supervise directly. Through mentorship, the technician will learn foundational tools and construction practices, network infrastructure, cable installation quality assurance and quality control, fiber optic cable types and handling, data center rack and cable-management systems, cable testing procedures and equipment, inside-plant safety, and data center security and compliance.
