About The Position

LaBella Associates is seeking an entry-level Electrical Engineer with a career interest in Building Projects to work in their Albany, NY or Poughkeepsie, NY office. This position will involve working with other Engineers as part of a Project Team to develop concepts, strategies, designs, drawings, specifications, and reports for buildings from conception to construction. The individual will collaborate closely with other engineers and team members to produce electrical engineering documents. The Building Engineering Division at LaBella provides comprehensive building engineering services, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural engineering, covering feasibility studies, analysis, project design, and construction for new construction, renovations, additions, and various project types. The Junior Electrical Engineer will work with Architects and Engineers on a project team, developing electrical design documents. Duties include lighting calculations, power distribution design, circuit and feeder calculations, and power, telecommunication, security, and systems layouts. Projects will typically involve field work, design, and construction administration services. Candidates will have the opportunity to work on diverse project types such as K-12 and higher education, municipal, healthcare, large commercial, residential, and other unique projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Associates Degree in electrical engineering or related field required.
  • Strong writing, organizational and communications skills.
  • Ability to work on several projects simultaneously.
  • An interest in building systems, and a curiosity to want to learn more.

Nice To Haves

  • EIT certification is a plus.
  • Background in AutoCAD and/or Revit is preferred.
  • Experience in the A/E consulting business is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Work with other engineers as part of a Project Team to develop concepts, strategies, designs, drawings, specifications, and reports.
  • Prepare electrical design drawings using Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Perform lighting calculations and arc flash studies.
  • Perform field investigations to document existing conditions.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a professional manner with co-workers, staff, project managers, other disciplines, and all other employees.
  • Improve current knowledge of technologies and trends, as they apply to the applicable project and market types, and continually strengthen skills.
