Junior Assistant (Part-Time)
About The Position
Living Room Studios is a private membership club for creatives celebrating music, art, design, and culture. The Junior Assistant role is a high-stakes, hybrid position that serves as the foundation of the studio's reputation for excellence. It is positioned above the Runner role and is the primary stepping stone toward Assistant Engineering. Unlike a standard Runner who provides general help, an LR Junior Assistant is a professional with technical literacy, precision facility management, and high-touch hospitality skills. This role requires a working understanding of the studio’s technical ecosystem, providing a level of support beyond that of a standard Runner.
Requirements
- Experienced in Pro Tools and analog signal flow, with a desire to move into Engineering.
- Advanced proficiency in DAW environments and analog routing.
- Previous experience in a recording studio environment is required.
- A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record are required.
- Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and late-night sessions.
Nice To Haves
- Background in premium hospitality or high-end service is a significant plus.
- Understanding the "big picture" of a session—knowing when a patch needs changing and when a client needs a fresh carafe of water.
- Skilled technician who understands that no task is beneath any member of the team and takes pride in executing Runner tasks with five-star precision when needed.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all rooms are technically prepared to the LR standard, possessing a deep knowledge of patch bay routing, DAW listener setups, and signal flow.
- Oversee the care and setup of world-class instruments, including a Fazioli piano and vintage synthesizer collection.
- Support the Assistant Engineer or Lead Engineer with technical tasks when a session demands it.
- Navigate the building with total discretion, adhering to strict "member-only" protocols and maintaining client privacy at all times.
- Anticipate the needs of the Engineer and Client alike, ensuring the creative team never has to break focus.
- Serve as the primary backup for all studio operations.
- Assume all Runner responsibilities (errands, craft service, and logistics) on shifts where a dedicated Runner is not present to ensure the facility continues to function at the highest level.
