About The Position
Journeyman Sheet Metal Refrigeration Installer (VRF) at RK Industries plays a critical role in the installation of advanced HVAC and refrigeration systems, including Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) systems. This role requires expertise in refrigeration piping, layout, brazing, pressure testing, system evacuations, charging procedures, and troubleshooting to ensure successful project delivery across commercial and industrial environments. Requirements
- Journeyman or Master Journeyman License required
- Demonstrated VRF installation experience
- Strong knowledge of refrigeration piping systems and installation practices
- Experience with piping layout, brazing, pressure testing, evacuations, charging, and troubleshooting
- Ability to interpret mechanical plans, drawings, and specifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong understanding of applicable building codes and industry regulations
- Excellent technical troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
- Expert knowledge of trade tools, equipment, and materials
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to craftsmanship
- Ability to maintain a safe, productive, and organized work environment
Responsibilities
- Perform journeyman-level sheet metal and refrigeration installation work on active construction sites
- Install and support VRF systems in accordance with manufacturer requirements and industry standards
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and installation documents
- Install refrigeration piping systems, including layout, assembly, and support systems
- Perform brazing, pressure testing, evacuations, charging procedures, and system start-up activities
- Troubleshoot refrigeration and HVAC system issues during installation and commissioning
- Ensure all work meets project quality standards, code requirements, and customer expectations
- Perform layout activities and material takeoffs as required
- Coordinate material, tool, and equipment needs to support project execution
- Oversee crew productivity and support project schedules and deadlines
- Perform quality control inspections and maintain required project documentation
- Conduct technical troubleshooting and diagnostics when needed
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe and organized condition
- Support equipment start-up activities and associated documentation
- Follow all OSHA, customer, site-specific, and RK safety requirements
- Perform additional duties as assigned
