About The Position

The Journeyman Plumber handles plumbing repairs, installations, inspections, diagnostics, and drain clearing. The role involves educating customers about system operation, maintenance, and damage prevention, and recommending ways to improve system performance. The plumber follows safety protocols, accurately documents work orders, and mentors Apprentice Plumbers.

Requirements

Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Strong mechanical aptitude and critical-thinking ability.
Ability to read and follow technical instructions.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
In-depth knowledge of plumbing tools, techniques, equipment, and codes.
Ability to accurately diagnose and troubleshoot plumbing issues.
Ability to explain technical information in a way customers understand.
Familiarity with computer software for timekeeping, customer billing, and payment processing.

Responsibilities

Arrive on time with a clear plan for scheduled work.
Educate customers on system operation, maintenance, and damage prevention, and offer professional recommendations to improve performance.
Complete plumbing repairs, including replacing seals, fixing leaks, and installing water heaters, water lines, garbage disposals, and fixtures.
Inspect plumbing systems for code compliance and potential issues, and diagnose and resolve malfunctions.
Clear drains and blockages using specialized tools and equipment.
Operate electrical hand tools, saws, drills, brazing equipment, drain machines, and propress.
Apply technical expertise to ensure optimal system functionality.
Follow safety protocols to protect yourself, the team, and customer property.
Mentor and guide Apprentice Plumbers.
Document work orders accurately and maintain complete, detailed records.
