About The Position

This role involves repairing machinery, mechanical, and electrical equipment. The Journeyman Machinery Maintenance Mechanic will examine machines and equipment to diagnose and repair issues, often using hand tools. This includes dismantling, fitting parts, replacing defective components, and reassembling machinery with necessary adjustments. The position requires conversing with operators to identify problems, testing faulty equipment, and applying knowledge of electronic systems to diagnose malfunctions. Responsibilities also include reading blueprints and diagrams, installing components, and performing repairs on electrical lines and circuits in military shelters and vans. The role may involve fabricating and wiring electrical boxes, and participating in team repairs and installations both in-house and on TDY assignments. All other position-related duties as assigned or requested are also part of the role.

Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent.
Journeyman Electrician License
Three years' experience working on industrial equipment and / or three years' doing metal fabrication
Be able to obtain and retain a forklift operators license
Valid state-issued drivers license.
Passing a pre-employment drug screen and a government background check is required.
Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
Must be able to read, write and speak English.
Must be available to work any shift.
Willing to work weekends and other hours as needed.

Responsibilities

Examine machines and mechanical equipment to diagnose source of trouble.
Dismantle or partly dismantle machines and perform repairs using hand tools, scraping, and fitting parts.
Replace broken or defective parts with items from stock, or order production of replacement parts.
Prepare written specifications for major repairs or for parts ordered from machine shops.
Reassemble machines and make necessary adjustments for operation.
Converse with equipment operators to ascertain problems with equipment before breakdown and to determine the cause.
Test faulty equipment and apply knowledge of electronic units and systems to diagnose malfunctions.
Test electronic components and circuits to locate defects.
Replace defective components and wiring and adjust mechanical parts.
Align, adjust, and calibrate equipment according to specifications.
Calibrate testing instruments.
Maintain records of repairs, calibrations, and tests.
Enter information into computer systems for program copying, drawing, modifying, or storing schematics.
Read blueprints, wiring diagrams, process sheets, and assembly and schematic drawings.
Align and assemble parts such as leads, coils, wires, tabs, and terminals into housing.
Route and lace cables.
Install components and parts such as switches, coils, transformers, relays, transistors, and semiconductor circuits.
Route and attach wires and connectors to form circuitry and connect assemblies to power supply sources, switch panels, or junction boxes.
Attach hardware and seal assemblies.
Examine parts for defects such as pinholes or chips.
Test operate units to locate defects, measure performance, determine the need for adjustment, and verify specified operation.
Replace defective components and wiring.
Calibrate units according to specifications.
Enter information on production records, logs, and other report forms.
Repair defective units rejected by inspection or test personnel.
Install and test electrical lines and circuits to components, devices, and fixtures in military shelters and vans.
Install wire mold, raceways, and/or conduits and fittings.
Replace or install wires by pulling wire through wire mold or conduit and connecting to electric fixtures or components.
Disassemble, repair, troubleshoot, and/or replace wire mold, wires, and electrical components and devices.
Build or fabricate and wire phase meter boxes, power distribution boxes, and other meter boxes.
Perform disassembly and assembly work in shelters and vans, including removing and tagging equipment racks, removing raceways, lights, and/or cable, replacing rusted bolts, preparing shelters for painting, and removing rotted wire.
Perform assembly work including installing lights, replacing nuts and bolts, and installing equipment racks.
Participate as a member of a team in the repair and installation of equipment both in-house and on TDY assignments.
Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.
