About The Position

This role involves repairing machinery, mechanical, and electrical equipment. The Journeyman - Machinery Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing equipment issues, performing necessary repairs using hand tools, replacing parts, and ordering replacements when needed. The position requires the ability to reassemble machines, make adjustments, and communicate with operators to identify problems. A key aspect of the role includes testing faulty equipment, diagnosing malfunctions using knowledge of electronic units and systems, and replacing defective components. The mechanic will also be responsible for calibrating equipment and instruments, maintaining repair records, and entering information into computer systems. Reading blueprints, wiring diagrams, and other technical documentation is essential. The role also includes assembling parts, routing cables, installing components, and testing units to ensure proper operation. Additionally, the position involves installing and testing electrical lines and circuits in military shelters and vans, disassembling, repairing, and replacing electrical components, and fabricating meter boxes. Participation in team repairs and installations, both in-house and on TDY assignments, is expected. All other position-related duties as assigned or requested are also part of the responsibilities.

Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent.
Journeyman Electrician License.
Three years' experience working on industrial equipment and / or three years' doing metal fabrication.
Be able to obtain and retain a forklift operators license.
Valid state-issued drivers license.
Passing a pre-employment drug screen and a government background check is required.
Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
Must be able to read, write and speak English.
Must be available to work any shift.
Willing to work weekends and other hours as needed.
Access to the Depot requires all covered individuals to be registered with the United States Selective Service.

Responsibilities

Examine machines and mechanical equipment to diagnose source of trouble.
Dismantle or partly dismantle machines and perform repairs using hand tools.
Replace broken or defective parts and order production of replacement parts.
Reassemble machines and make necessary adjustments for operation.
Converse with equipment operators to ascertain problems with equipment.
Test faulty equipment and diagnose cause of malfunction.
Test electronic components and circuits to locate defects.
Replace defective components and wiring and adjust mechanical parts.
Align, adjust, and calibrate equipment according to specifications.
Calibrate testing instruments.
Maintain records of repairs, calibrations, and tests.
Enter information into computer systems for program copying, drawing, modifying, or storing schematics.
Read blueprints, wiring diagrams, process sheets, and assembly and schematic drawings.
Align and assemble parts such as leads, coils, wires, tabs, and terminals into housing.
Route and lace cables.
Install components and parts such as switches, coils, transformers, relays, transistors, and semiconductor circuits.
Route and attach wires and connectors to form circuitry and connect assembly to power supply sources, switch panels, or junction boxes.
Attach hardware and seal assembly.
Examine parts for defects.
Test operate unit to locate defects, measure performance, and verify operation.
Replace defective components and wiring.
Calibrate unit according to specifications.
Enter information on production records, logs, and other report forms.
Repair defective units rejected by inspection or test personnel.
Install and test a variety of electrical lines and circuits to components, devices, and fixtures in military shelters and vans.
Install wire mold, raceways and/or conduits and fittings, replace or install wires.
Disassemble, repair, troubleshoot, and/or replace wire mold, wires, and electrical components and devices.
Build or fabricate and wire phase meter boxes, power distribution boxes, and other meter boxes.
Perform disassembly and assembly work in shelters and vans, including removing equipment, tagging racks, removing raceways, lights, and/or cable, replacing bolts, preparing shelter for painting, and removing rotted wire.
Perform assembly work involving installing lights, replacing nuts and bolts, and installing equipment racks.
Participate as a member of a team in the repair and installation of equipment both in-house and on TDY assignments.
Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.
