About The Position

This posting is for a potential future opening(s) with Entergy Mississippi, LLC, and is intended to build a candidate pool should these openings become available. The role involves constructing, building, and maintaining overhead and underground electric facilities with primary voltages up to 34.5KV. This includes installation and maintenance of primary line facilities and secondary services, transformers, regulators, and capacitors. The position requires operating various equipment, including aerial bucket and digger derrick trucks, reading job prints, and setting/climbing poles. Availability for on-call duty and emergency response is essential.

Requirements

Apprentice 1st Year - 1 year demonstrated linework experience required
Apprentice 2nd Year - 2+ years demonstrated linework experience required
Apprentice 3rd Year - 3+ Years demonstrated linework experience required
Apprentice 4th Year - 4+ Years demonstrated linework experience required.
Journeyman - 5 years of lineman experience.
Required to have or be able to obtain a Class A Commercial Drivers License.
Ability to use physical strength to perform required tasks in all weather conditions.
Ability to work irregular hours and out of town assignments as required.
Good communication skills.
Ability to take and understand directives and complete tasks with limited supervision.
Ability to plan and lay out all work in a safe and efficient manner.
Ability to assume a lead role and direct the work of other linemen.
Required to work safely and follow all Entergy safety policies and procedures.
Ability to learn through classroom instruction, OJT and repetitive motions.
Ability to climb and work off of poles of various heights.
Ability to recognize hazards in the workplace and have the ability to mitigate the hazards.
Ability to maintain and care for Company equipment properly and safeguard assets.
Ability to meet the public in a pleasant and tactful manner and understand the importance of delivering a high level of customer service.

Must be able to traverse uneven terrain (including, but not limited to, wet, muddy and/or slippery terrain, concrete or asphalt) with a full complement of tools weighing up to fifty pounds

Must be able to work in confined spaces.
Must have sound judgment necessary to work safely in inherently dangerous environment.
Must be able to understand and follow safety rules.

Responsibilities

Installation, removal and maintenance of OH/UG primary line facilities and secondary services.
Installation of OH/UG transformers and the wiring of all types of transformer banks.
Installation, including the wiring of regulators, capacitors, and reclosers.
Driving of different sizes and types of trucks.
Operation of various pieces of equipment, including Aerial Bucket and Digger Derrick Trucks.
Reading and understanding job prints and sketches.
Recognizing materials and their function.
Setting and climbing of all sizes of poles in open areas, rear alleys and in energized lines.
Being available for on call duty and emergency response.
Performing restoration services alone when necessary.
Performing physical tasks, including digging, and pulling, pushing, carrying and lifting up to 80 pounds.
Safely operating trucks and heavy equipment and safely working around energized lines and equipment.
Working at heights for extended periods of time.
Working overhead from a bucket truck (perform work above shoulders on energized overhead lines).
Climbing up and descending from wooden/steel structures, poles and ladders and being able to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, grip, handle and feel.
Performing emergency rescue operations, including bringing unconscious or injured co-worker down from significant height or elevated area.
Working up to 16 continuous hours per day.
Wearing required personal protection equipment.
Performing basic computer tasks, such as entering time worked, noting beginning and completion of assigned task, checking and responding to emails, completing computer-based training, and other similar tasks.
Communicating effectively and interacting with a team.
Managing stress and handling tense situations.
Maintaining regular and reliable attendance.
Working overtime when necessary.
Being available to work additional hours, in alternate locations, and/or perform additional duties in connection with storms, outages, emergencies, or other situations as deemed necessary by the company.
