About The Position

This posting outlines the specifications for three distinct, but related, roles: 3rd Year Apprentice Lineman, 4th Year Apprentice Lineman, and Journeyman Lineman. All positions require a high school education or equivalent and involve significant experience in the construction and maintenance of electrical systems, including overhead lines, underground systems, and substations. Key responsibilities include troubleshooting, load balancing, and adhering to strict safety regulations. The roles are safety-sensitive, demanding a high level of responsibility for personal and public safety. Work is primarily performed outdoors and may require availability on weekends, at night, and during severe weather. A Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and the ability to operate computers/tablets are mandatory for all positions. A residency requirement is in place, mandating a commute of no more than 35 minutes from home to the reporting office.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in electrical work for 3rd Year Apprentice.
  • Minimum of four years of experience in electrical work for 4th Year Apprentice.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in electrical work for Journeyman Lineman.
  • Experience in construction and maintenance of overhead lines, underground systems, and substations.
  • Experience with troubleshooting and load balancing.
  • Basic knowledge of electricity and its terminology.
  • Familiarity with circuits and electric distribution layouts.
  • Familiarity with Rural Electric Construction Specifications.
  • Familiarity with safety rules and regulations (First Electric Cooperative Corporation, State Labor Department, OSHA).
  • Ability to perform essential functions of the respective classification.
  • Ability to use tact in dealing with members, fellow employees, and the general public.
  • Current Class A Commercial Driver's license (CDL).
  • Ability to operate a computer and/or an electronic tablet.
  • Ability to operate applicable computer programs/software (4th Year Apprentice and Journeyman Lineman).
  • Residency requirement: commute from home to reporting office must be within 35 minutes.
