About The Position

This position involves the construction and maintenance of overhead lines, underground systems, and substations. The role requires a strong understanding of electricity, safety regulations, and the ability to troubleshoot electrical issues. The position is safety-sensitive and requires the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including weekends and nights. A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A and computer/tablet operation skills are necessary. There are residency requirements for on-call duties and a 35-minute commute to the reporting office.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Minimum three years of experience with electrical work in the construction and maintenance of overhead lines, underground systems, and substations (for 3rd Year Apprentice).
  • Minimum four years of experience with electrical work in the construction and maintenance of overhead lines, underground systems, and substations (for 4th Year Apprentice).
  • Minimum five years of experience with electrical work in the construction and maintenance of overhead lines, underground systems, and substations (for Journeyman Lineman).
  • Basic knowledge of electricity and its terminology.
  • Familiarity with circuits and electric distribution layouts.
  • Familiarity with Rural Electric Construction Specifications.
  • Familiarity with safety rules and regulations in accordance with First Electric Cooperative Corporation, State Labor Department, and OSHA.
  • Ability to perform essential functions associated with the classification.
  • Ability to use tact in dealing with members, fellow employees, and the general public.
  • Current Class A Commercial Driver's license (CDL).
  • Ability to operate a computer and/or an electronic tablet.
  • Ability to operate applicable computer programs/software (for 4th Year Apprentice and Journeyman Lineman).

Responsibilities
