Journeyman CNC Machinist Apprentice
About The Position
MTI Motion LLC's Muskego location is initiating a Registered Apprenticeship Program in partnership with the State of WI Department of Workforce Development. This 4-year program will provide apprentices with a structured training schedule, imparting essential skills and abilities through hands-on experience with manual and CNC machining operations, guided by experienced employees. The program also includes one day per week of technical college instruction for the first two years. Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship and schooling, the individual will earn Journeyman CNC Machinist status and continue employment with MTI in a skilled role, contributing to the creation of specialized products.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED
- 2-year CNC / Machining Degree or equivalent machining experience
- Excellent communication skills; able to read, write, follow detailed instructions, use PC
- Solid mechanical ability / troubleshooting experience / attention to detail / teamwork
- Can-do attitude and approach to all assignments
- Ability to learn from peer machinists / be accountable for advancing individual knowledge through constructive feedback and overall apprentice performance
Responsibilities
- Retrieve job related information: routing, drawing, program, inspection sheets, etc.
- Review raw material for dimensions, quantity, defects, maintain heat lot traceability
- Perform all change-over related activities through first piece inspection, edits-offsets
- Utilize precision tools and gages to measure part features / dimensions and document results according to in-process quality inspection requirements and AQL sampling intervals.
- Learn to detect and troubleshoot machining and programming issues as they occur
- Operate secondary equipment to finish and clean parts for subsequent operations
- Maintain high level of awareness and attention to detail to achieve quality and production results
- Utilize PC or Laptop to record labor and production information
- Follows prescribed safety rules and procedures for all work
- Perform routine equipment maintenance and keep work area in a clean orderly condition.
