About The Position

We’re seeking instructors to teach the following courses, with the potential for continuing appointments in these and/or other courses based on need. Appointment is contingent on class enrollment for each class, each semester. JOUR 210 – Multimedia Journalism – Spring 2026 – in-person or online. For JOUR 210, students learn basic photography, audio and video production skills, and produce multimedia projects following the tenets and ethical practices of journalism. We have multiple podcast studios, a multimedia/video studio, and industry-level photo/audio/video equipment for students to use in their reporting. The candidate(s) would design their own syllabi and train students in use of necessary technology, and teach courses with both lecture and lab hours. The journalism/radio department can offer support in terms of curriculum development and tech support. Instructors will get access to the Adobe Creative Suite and Fullerton College library resources, as well as the option for paid office hours.

Requirements

  • Master's in journalism or communication with a specialization in journalism OR Bachelor's in either of the above AND Master's in English, history, communication, literature, composition, comparative literature, any social science, business, business administration, marketing, graphics or photography OR Possess a valid California teaching credential authorizing service in a community college in the appropriate subject matter area OR The equivalent.
  • Equivalent qualifications may include related education, training, employment and professional experience that would be equal to the required degree(s) and experience in this field as determined by the District Equivalency Committee.

  • Be able to demonstrate how these factors relate to the need for equity minded practices within the classroom.

Nice To Haves

  • Teaching experience is preferred.
  • Experience with real-world journalism, radio or broadcasting.
  • Passionate about teaching community college students.
  • Experience in applying diversity, equity and inclusion practices in the workplace or classroom.
