About The Position

Portland Community College is accepting applications to be considered for Part-Time Faculty assignments in Journalism. This is an interest pool, meaning applications will be reviewed as the need arises for new part-time faculty. Your application may be considered for substitute assignments as well as full-term class assignments. The department will identify applicants based on course assignment needs during the Academic Year.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in English, Creative Writing, Journalism, Speech Communication, Mass Communication, or Communications OR Master’s degree in a related area (e.g. History, Economics, Political Science, Sociology) with Thirty (30) graduate quarter hours in the subject area.
  • OR Bachelor’s degree in English, Creative Writing, Communications, or Journalism with Two (2) or more years of professional experience working in mass media.
  • Must reside in Oregon or Washington.
  • Official transcripts are required to be submitted within 2 weeks of offer date for degrees required in the stated Instructor Qualifications.
  • Credentials must be from a regionally accredited US institution or a foreign institution having the equivalent of regional accreditation.
  • For credentials from other countries, transcripts will be evaluated by agencies in good standing with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Part-Time Faculty assignments in Journalism.
  • Potentially teach substitute assignments as well as full-term class assignments.
  • List current PCC courses which you would be able to teach.
