About The Position

Portland Community College is accepting applications to be considered for Part-Time Faculty assignments in Journalism. This is an interest pool, meaning applications will be reviewed as the need arises for new part-time faculty. Your application may be considered for substitute assignments as well as full-term class assignments. The department will identify applicants based on course assignment needs during the Academic Year.

Requirements

Master’s degree in English, Creative Writing, Journalism, Speech Communication, Mass Communication, or Communications OR Master’s degree in a related area (e.g. History, Economics, Political Science, Sociology) with Thirty (30) graduate quarter hours in the subject area.
OR Bachelor’s degree in English, Creative Writing, Communications, or Journalism with Two (2) or more years of professional experience working in mass media.
Must reside in Oregon or Washington.
Official transcripts are required to be submitted within 2 weeks of offer date for degrees required in the stated Instructor Qualifications.
Credentials must be from a regionally accredited US institution or a foreign institution having the equivalent of regional accreditation.
For credentials from other countries, transcripts will be evaluated by agencies in good standing with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services.

Responsibilities

Teach Part-Time Faculty assignments in Journalism.
Potentially teach substitute assignments as well as full-term class assignments.
List current PCC courses which you would be able to teach.
