About The Position
This is a full-time apprenticeship opportunity at C & B Operations, a John Deere dealership with 38 locations across 6 states. The program aims to train individuals to become certified John Deere experts. Apprentices will work full-time in the shop under experienced technicians, with one week of in-class instruction and hands-on learning per month in Mitchell, South Dakota (travel, food, lodging, and class are paid for). The program duration is 2-3 years, depending on prior mechanic experience. Participants will earn money while gaining work experience and working towards their John Deere Apprenticeship Certification. The company offers tool packages with options of $3,000 and $7,500, which become the apprentice's property after three years of employment.
Requirements
- Strong work ethic and desire to learn
- Mechanical aptitude and interest in equipment
- Ability to work full-time
- Valid driver’s license
Nice To Haves
- 2 years of prior mechanic experience (reduces program length to 2 years)
Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on John Deere agricultural equipment
- Work with diesel engines, hydraulics, electronics, and precision ag technology
- Use advanced diagnostic tools and software
- Complete digital service documentation
- Learn professional shop procedures and safety practices
- Work alongside experienced technicians who mentor and train
