About The Position

The Job Developer (JD) reports to the Workforce Development Manager and is responsible for the job placement of program participants enrolled in their assigned Workforce Development Programs. The JD will work in partnership with Onsite CNA Career Coach, Security Training Instructor, and Career Advisors to ensure high levels of successful placement outcomes, and to meet Goodwill’s overall mission of economic self-sufficiency. The JD will also follow up with employers to ensure the students’ job placement and retention and will work to ensure all placement and retention verifications are completed as per the requirements for each assigned program.

Requirements

  • Three years’ experience in job placement services.
  • Familiarity working with special needs populations such as people with disabilities and/or disadvantaged conditions including, but not limited to, homelessness, felonies, at-risk youth, welfare to work, and senior adults.
  • Strong skill sets in sales, marketing, and “closing the deal,” are critical to the success of the JD.
  • Experience with business to business partnership creation and contact development
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to analyze data and write clear, accurate and concise reports
  • Ability to communicate effectively in small & large groups, inclusive of public presentations
  • Strong computer skills including word, excel, email, publisher and PowerPoint
  • Ability to collaborate with a team of professionals
  • Microsoft Office Suite Exp
  • CRM Exp; Preferably Case worthy or a similar system
  • Valid CA Driver’s License, being willing and able to produce a valid registration upon demand.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate and maintain ongoing personal contacts with a variety of business and industry representatives and job placement training agencies to promote student placement across a wide variety of industries.
  • Partner with the CNA Career Coach-Onsite Programs and Security Training Instructor, to place students based on skill sets and employer needs.
  • Recruit industry-appropriate employers and coordinates Positive Recruitments (Job Fairs) for training program graduates.
  • Achieve student job placement goals, hourly wage goals, and job retention goals consistent with the Division’s annual goals and objectives (vital factors). Monthly and Annual Placement Goals are expected to be met.
  • Participate in a “Team Approach” to the placement and continued success of students in assigned programs, by collaborating closely with assigned staff members.
  • Work with the CNA Career Coach and Security Training Instructor to match the student’s job skills to the employer’s job openings.
  • Make cold calls to potential employers as well as in-person visits; explain the benefits and employment support services provided to employers.
  • Research internet, newspapers, and local agencies including but not limited to America’s Job Centers, other Career Centers, and EDD offices, for job leads.
  • As assigned, participate in outreach and recruitment activities.
  • Provide personalized career-readiness coaching, including preparing students for interviews, and writing resumes for students.
  • Responsible for post-employment needs of students and follow-up measurements to ensure the student’s job retention.
  • Develop and record new business contacts weekly and prepare monthly summaries of activities for review by Workforce Development Manager.
  • Stay current on employment trends and articulate those trends to the Workforce Development Manager or designee, agency management team, and Board of Trustees as requested.
  • Keep abreast of occupational training needs, local labor market fluctuations, local economic self-sufficiency thresholds, and entry level requirements to ensure students’ employment.
  • Act as the Goodwill SOLAC representative at various business and community events (such as Rotary, Chambers of Commerce, PIHRA, etc.) that will include public speaking, multi-media presentations, and other types of information sharing regarding services offered by Goodwill for employers and job seekers as assigned.
  • Share responsibilities and accomplishments with all members of the Division team.
  • Implement standards, evaluation procedures, employer satisfaction surveys and other tools for reviewing and monitoring the overall quality and effectiveness of Goodwill job development and job placement programs as per Goodwill and CARF specifications.
  • Follow up with employers to ensure the students’ job placement and retention and will work to ensure all placement and retention verifications are completed as per the requirements for each assigned program.
  • As assigned by the Workforce Development Manager, participate in periodic monitoring and evaluation of in-house employment training programs.
  • As requested, generate reports as to the effectiveness of the various Workforce Development employment placement services and forward recommendations for job placement and job retention improvement to the Workforce Development Manager.
  • Complete placement and retention updates for current and past graduates and upload necessary documents to the client case management system for document placement and retention.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
