About The Position

The Job Developer is responsible for providing direct services to employable adults during the first twelve (12) months of resettlement, assisting with job preparation skills and creating a plan towards self- sufficiency. The duties and responsibilities of the position are to be carried out in a manner that is consistent with the mission, values, and operating principles of Jewish Family Services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • Background working in the employment or human resource fields highly desirable or experience in an inside or outside sales function, including account management experience.
  • Initiate and maintain personal contacts with business and industry representatives to set up recruitment profiles and provide orientations; schedules and visits potential and existing employers to identify and develop positions for clients.
  • Assist qualified clients in identifying positions in their field of interest and assist in the development of resumes, cover letters and applications; advise on employability skills.
  • Work with clients to gain relevant skills; helps them explore alternative employment options.
  • Strong internet research and computer skills, especially with Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and web-based health information systems.
  • Exhibited ability to effectively work within an inclusive and culturally and linguistically diverse environment.
  • Ability to interpret and respond to program and grant guidelines.
  • English speaking and writing fluency required.

Responsibilities

  • Act as initial contact for new employers recruited to hire refugee clients.
  • Target and develop relationship with specific employers in the placement and training of refugees into the work force.
  • Break down and overcome the perceived barriers and challenges faced by newly arriving refugees seeking employment.
  • Provide transportation assistance, language assistance, and job application assistance in early stages of securing job for client.
  • Facilitate Job Readiness workshops for matching grant clients (those in the first 4 months of resettlement) and BRIA workshops for those in the 5-12 months of resettlement.
  • Assist clients in developing a career plan, identifying employment opportunities, resume development, and developing interview skills. Monitor client’s career plan compliance and progress.
  • Advocate for clients in resolving issues with employers.
  • Maintain and review weekly job development reports (i.e. weekly job developer log, employment activity log, job referrals, placement report and other related).
  • Manage R&P and Match Grant monthly reports.
