About The Position

The Job Coach will assist the teacher with general daily classroom instructional activities and will be responsible for transporting and providing direct support to students in job placements within the community and school setting. The Job Coach will create checklists and tools to assist students in learning job-related tasks and will provide updates to the teacher regarding students’ work performance. This role is specifically for programming for South Carolina High School Credential (SCHSC) students that require specialized instruction and differentiated support in the work site setting.

Requirements

  • Meets Highly Qualified standards as defined by the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001: Associate degree preferred, or High School diploma and general education degree with 60 hours college credit from an accredited college or passing score on the ParaPro Assessment.
  • Experience in working with children.
  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as simple instructions, short correspondence and memos, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write and/or type routine reports and correspondences.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of district personnel or organizations.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measurement, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Application of percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations is required.
  • Ability to analyze information and use logic to address work related issues and problems.
  • Ability to quickly assess employee, departmental, and administrative needs and provide timely feedback.
  • Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with staff and district employees.
  • Ability to perform duties with a high level of detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to self-monitor and manage multiple tasks while working individually and with members of a group.
  • Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and peripheral vision.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of coursework and licensure for a CDL within 4 months of hire date. Failure to achieve the CDL licensure in 4 months will result in removal from the job coach position with transfer options to other classified positions within the school district that are available (at a lower pay rate).

Responsibilities

  • Assist the teacher in the implementation of the instructional program.
  • Assist the teacher in preparation of materials and activities for the instructional program.
  • Assist teachers in various non-instructional tasks, such as record keeping.
  • Assists teacher in supervision of students.
  • Work with Business Liaison, Department Managers, and Instructor to develop new studentship.
  • Work with the Instructor to assess student’s skills and gather baseline.
  • Responsible for writing and updating, checklists/task-lists, and plans of necessary accommodation for students.
  • Trains and coaches, the students to meet employer standards and expectations as established.
  • Provide feedback weekly using rubrics and evaluations.
  • Present a professional demeanor and appearance while representing Aiken County Public School District.
  • Ensure compliance with all required regulatory standards, rules and.
  • Analyze problems, gather information, utilize resources, and recognize.
  • Ensure that all team members receive necessary and timely.
  • Build natural support to reduce the amount of time spent with each student as core vocational and independent skills are developed.
  • Transport students to job sites, and other work-related appointments.
  • Attend Job Coach Trainings.
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding personal and educational information concerning students and their families.
  • Adhere to the ethical standards and codes of the profession, and to the established rules, regulations, and laws governing special education.
  • Provide job search strategies, identify and suggest suitable job opportunities.
  • Provide interview preparation and practice for students.
  • Follows district policies for protecting the health, safety and well-being of.
  • Oversee and transport Project SEARCH students in an Aiken County Public School District owned vehicle.
