About The Position

The Arc of Washington County is hiring a Job Coach to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) in achieving their employment goals and succeeding in real-world job settings. The role involves helping people learn job tasks, adjust to workplace expectations, build confidence, and develop independence. This is described as a regular, year-round, long-term position with room for growth.

The position is on-site in Hagerstown, Maryland, and offers flexible evening and weekend scheduling, possibly every weekend, for 30–40 hours per week. New hires must attend two weeks of paid training, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Starting pay is $19.60 per hour, with higher rates possible based on experience.

Requirements

• Be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED.
• Hold a valid U.S. driver’s license for at least two years; time holding a learner’s permit does not count.
• Be able to pass a background check, drug screen, physical, and fitness assessment.
• Be able to lift up to 50 pounds and provide hands-on support as needed.
• Be available for two weeks of paid new-hire training, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
• Be compassionate, reliable, and passionate about helping others succeed.

Responsibilities

• Support individuals with IDD as they learn job tasks and adjust to workplace expectations.
• Teach communication, time management, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
• Encourage confidence, independence, and personal growth.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with employers and job site supervisors.
• Provide consistent coaching, feedback, and support.
