About The Position

This is a customer development position focused on working with young people aged 16-21. The role involves assisting participants with professional workforce skills, coordinating placements, and providing post-placement support. Job Coaches will act as liaisons between the YouthWorks Private Sector program and hiring organizations, visiting worksites to offer encouragement and ensure a positive work experience. They will also serve as a direct link between employers and the assigned youth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in counseling, social work, education, vocational rehabilitation, job development or related human service field.
  • Two years of related vocational or job rehabilitation experience.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid Maryland Class C Noncommercial driver's license or an equivalent driver's license.
  • Must be eligible to obtain a Baltimore City driver’s permit.
  • Willingness to use personal vehicle for assigned duties on a daily basis.
  • Proficiency in virtual communication platforms (WebEx, Zoom, Google Meets, Microsoft Teams).
  • Capability to complete data entry and search functions using agency, city, and state software programs.
  • Must upload a copy of your valid driver’s license with the application.

Responsibilities

  • Provide group and individual sessions to support job preparedness and post-placement success, including work ethics, addressing barriers, and developing professional presentation.
  • Act as a liaison between the summer YouthWorks office and employer worksites.
  • Screen youth applicants and conduct interviews on behalf of employers.
  • Update databases including internal reports, OneDrive, and the summer YouthWorks system.
  • Verify youth information and conduct matching analysis for applicable positions.
  • Provide interview refreshers to young people.
  • Provide individual youth and employer sessions to support job retention.
  • Ensure comprehensive assessment, youth career counseling, and case file management.
  • Assist with functions related to YWPS Job Readiness Workshops and the YouthWorks Academy.
  • Deliver presentations to youth on workforce readiness and life skills.
  • Create and assist with youth resume preparation and design.
  • Meet with employers and human resource managers to maintain relations, anticipate needs, assess satisfaction, and offer support services.
  • Drive to worksite locations for site visits to observe work habits, meet with supervisors, address barriers, and encourage productivity.
  • Verify youth worker information matches employer requirements.
  • Review daily worksite attendance and verify timesheets.
  • Troubleshoot and distribute enrollee paycards and assist with Charmcard distribution and training.
  • Meet with employer site supervisors to resolve enrollee problems and document issues.
  • Complete timesheet training with employers.
  • Assist in the delivery, preparation, and coordination of YouthWorks Private Sector job readiness and YouthWorks Academy workshops.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
