JMP 2027 Summer Internship: Machine Learning/ C++/AI (Master's/PhD)

About The Position

JMP Life Sciences improves JMP products with advanced solutions in areas including AI, machine learning, genomics, and clinical data science. The division is also developing implementations using modern LLMs, agentic design, context engineering, UI design, PyTorch, and XGBoost. This internship involves programming in Python to build AI-integrated routines for JMP, then testing, benchmarking, documenting, and promoting the work in written and/or video formats.

The 12-week internship runs from May 18, 2027, through August 6, 2027. Dates are not flexible, and interns must be available to start in person at the Cary headquarters on May 18. The role offers a hybrid work approach aligned with team needs.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Master’s degree or preferably a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Biostatistics, Biochemistry, Clinical Statistics, Statistical Genomics, Engineering, or another life-science-analytic-focused major.
• Must not be graduating before December 2027.
• Very strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Very strong coding skills.
• Leadership abilities.
• Past experience demonstrating initiative and willingness to go above and beyond.
• Interest in the future of analytics and an embrace of technology.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and must not require employment visa sponsorship now or in the future.
• Must be available to start in person at the Cary headquarters on May 18, 2027, and work the internship dates of May 18 through August 6, 2027; dates are not flexible.

Nice To Haves

• A Ph.D. is preferred over a Master’s degree.

Responsibilities
