About The Position

JJYS Technician II (Graveyard Shift) - Farmington Bay Youth Center. This is a full-time, on-site position. The role involves working closely with youth ordered into the care and custody of JJYS, monitoring visitors and residents, scheduling and coordinating activities, assisting with perimeter checks, and resolving potentially dangerous situations to ensure safety. New hires will participate in a week of New Employee Training and a week of verbal and physical de-escalation training within the first 90 days. The position also includes transporting youth and providing intervention, supervision, and rehabilitation programs to youth offenders while assuring public safety. Effective written communication is essential. Requirements

  • Availability to work rotating shifts, days, swing, graveyard, weekends and holidays.
  • High risks in this job include physical intervention with clients in order to de-escalate hostile or volatile situations.
  • Work requires physical exertion and requires the ability to stand, walk over rough surfaces, bend, crouch, stoop, stretch, reach, lift moderately heavy items (up to 50 lbs.) in a recurring manner and/or for long periods of time.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with youth ordered into the care and custody of JJYS
  • Monitor visitors and residents within the facility
  • Schedule and coordinate activities for the youth
  • Assist the Control Supervisor by making perimeter checks
  • Resolve potentially dangerous situations to ensure the safety of staff, clients, and or the public by applying appropriate intervention techniques to people, facilities and property
  • Transport Youth
  • Provide a continuum of intervention, supervision, and rehabilitation programs to youth offenders while assuring public safety.
  • Communicate information and ideas clearly and concisely in writing (read and understand information presented in writing)
