About The Position

This position is only open to current JJYS employees. The role involves mentoring, overseeing, and working closely with high-risk/violent youth offenders. Responsibilities include scheduling and supervising individual and group activities, writing court reports, parole summaries, treatment plans, and supervision standards. The position also assists in teaching various pro-social, academic, and vocational skills, implementing specialized treatment plans, and co-facilitating sessions with a Licensed Mental Health Practitioner. Successful candidates must pass the Integrated Crisis Response (ICR) intervention program within 90 days of employment and provide crisis intervention when necessary. The role requires resolving potentially dangerous situations to ensure safety and transporting youth. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential. The position is located at the Decker Lake Youth Center (Transport Team) in West Valley City, Utah.

Requirements

  • Two years of paid working experience with troubled or at-risk youth, two years of full-time education or a combination of education and experience to equal two years (for Youth Development Associate)
  • Four years of paid working experience with troubled or at-risk youth, four years of full-time education or a combination of education and experience to equal four years (for Youth Development Specialist)
  • A valid Utah Driver's License
  • Paid work at any JJYS facility, Utah State Hospital, Utah State Developmental Center, private residential youth programs, alternative schools (working with at-risk or delinquent youths), juvenile probation/parole, Law enforcement, Correctional Officer, or programs that work with at-risk or delinquent youths.

Responsibilities
