About The Position

JJYS Technician I- Cache Valley Youth Center is a part-time, in-office position focused on changing young lives, supporting families, and keeping communities safe. The role involves working closely with youth in the care and custody of JJYS, monitoring facility activity, scheduling youth activities, assisting with perimeter checks, and resolving potentially dangerous situations. New hires will participate in a week of New Employee Training and a week of de-escalation training within the first 90 days. The position provides a continuum of intervention, supervision, and rehabilitation programs to youth offenders while assuring public safety. The work environment is dynamic and fast-paced, sometimes requiring physical exertion and active intervention for safety. Shifts often involve rotating schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

  • Availability to work rotating shifts, days, swing, graveyard, weekends and holidays.

Nice To Haves

  • A valid Utah Driver's License

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with youth ordered into the care and custody of JJYS
  • Monitor visitors and residents within the facility
  • Schedule and coordinate activities for the youth
  • Assist the Control Supervisor by making perimeter checks
  • Resolve potentially dangerous situations to ensure the safety of staff, clients, and or the public by applying appropriate intervention techniques to people, facilities and property
  • Transport Youth
  • Provide a continuum of intervention, supervision, and rehabilitation programs to youth offenders while assuring public safety.
  • Communicate information and ideas clearly and concisely in writing (read and understand information presented in writing)
