About The Position

JJYS Technician I - Cache Valley Youth Center FT / PT Status – Part-Time Salary – $15.00 Remote Work / In-Office – In-Office / On-Site Recruiter – Kendra Keller | [email protected] Application Deadline – 8/7/2026 This job posting may close at any time after the minimum advertising period of three (3) business days has passed, should a sufficient applicant pool be received. Within the first 90 days after hire, you will participate in one week of New Employee Training to introduce you to principles and practices used in our work with youth and families. You will also participate in one week of verbal and physical de-escalation training to provide skills that will help you work with youth with challenging behaviors. Provide a continuum of intervention, supervision, and rehabilitation programs to youth offenders while assuring public safety. Communicate information and ideas clearly and concisely in writing (read and understand information presented in writing) Mentorship & Rehabilitation: Teach pro-social behavior skills and implement specialized treatment plans. JJYS team members provide critical support and guidance to youth at-risk for delinquency while they transition into adulthood. Together, we can help improve the lives and welfare of young people in the care of JJYS. Utah Division of Juvenile Justice and Youth Services (JJYS) provides a continuum of prevention, intervention, supervision and rehabilitation services and programs to youth offenders while assuring public safety.

Requirements

  • Minimum Requirements

  • Availability to work rotating shifts, days, swing, graveyard, weekends and holidays.
  • Note: When starting, a majority of the shifts may be graveyard shifts.

Nice To Haves

  • Candidates 19 years of age or older
  • Candidates with a high school diploma or GED
  • Candidates that speak multiple languages
  • A valid Utah Driver's License

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with youth ordered into the care and custody of JJYS
  • Monitor visitors and residents within the facility
  • Schedule and coordinate activities for the youth
  • Assist the Control Supervisor by making perimeter checks
  • Resolve potentially dangerous situations to ensure the safety of staff, clients, and or the public by applying appropriate intervention techniques to people, facilities and property
  • Answering phones, scheduling visits, working the Control Board which opens doors for staff.
