About The Position

Derex Technologies Inc is seeking a Java Developer to provide full life cycle development using Java. The role is located in Missouri and requires onsite work starting on day one. The developer will work with users and technical teams to identify problems and design requirements, troubleshoot issues, develop solutions, and complete programming projects in a timely manner. The position also involves documenting changes, following the Systems Development Life Cycle, and managing multiple priorities. Other duties may be assigned by the Manager of Application Development.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience.
• Experience programming in Java and in a Tomcat environment, including Java Servlets and JSP.
• Knowledge of Java, JavaScript, JDBC, SQL, Gradle, HTML, React, and CSS Design Tokens.
• Experience with or demonstrated ability to learn Spring Boot, Tomcat, Spring Data JPA, and containers including Docker and Kubernetes.
• Front-end experience with React, CSS Modules, and React Query.
• Willingness to build against a design-token source (CSS Design Tokens) that generates CSS, Swift, and Android outputs.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate with business and technical communities.
• Strong analytical skills, self-motivation, and attention to detail.
• Good organizational and time management skills.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with RESTful web services, JSON, and XML.
• Familiarity with API security using OAuth 2.0 and OIDC with PKCE and per-endpoint scope enforcement.
• Experience with Gradle builds, dependency/SBOM management, and CI/CD as code using Bitbucket Pipelines.
• Experience building, testing, and distributing iOS and Android applications.
• Exposure to Swift/SwiftUI and Kotlin/Jetpack Compose.
• Working knowledge of AI-assisted development tools, including use of coding assistants and design-to-code generation, with review, testing, and correction of AI-generated code before commit.
• Ability to write clear, well-scoped prompts and recognize when AI output needs human verification.
• General familiarity with AI application concepts such as conversational assistants, insight generation, document Q&A, and model serving.
• Understanding of responsible and secure AI use in a regulated banking environment, including protecting credentials, source code, and customer data and respecting licensing and compliance requirements.
