About The Position

Language Trainers is an international language training company seeking a freelance Japanese Teacher for a client in Columbia, SC. This is a one-to-one general language course with a total of 20 hours, with sessions lasting two hours each. The student is at an elementary level, aged 18-24, and prefers to meet once per week on any day outside of Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday, between 1 and 7 PM. The student's motivation is to develop functional proficiency up to JLPT N3 level for a technical career and improve conversational skills, seeking structured lessons for consistency and accountability. The preferred start date is 2026-09-28. The schedule and location may be flexible based on availability. The hourly rate is negotiable.

Requirements

Native Japanese speaker and/or hold a relevant teaching qualification.
Experience as a language teacher, translator, or interpreter.
Possess a valid work permit/visa.
Live within 20 miles of Columbia, SC.

Responsibilities

Provide one-to-one Japanese language instruction to an elementary-level student.
