About The Position

This role involves providing interpretation and translation services between Japanese and English to support communication at Toyotetsu America Inc. The position will assist Japanese coordinators and local staff in effective communication and also support the daily living needs of Japanese coordinators, visitors, and their families. This includes interpretation for school and medical appointments, coordinating team activities, and assisting Human Resources with special projects. The role requires flexibility to handle urgent interpretation needs as they arise.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree, or four (4)+ years of related experience and a high school diploma or G.E.D., or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Fluency in both English and Japanese.
• Proficiency in computer operations and system software, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Interpersonal skills (teamwork, customer orientation).
• Communication skills (verbal communication, listening, written communication).
• Performance skills (accuracy with detail, planning, prioritizing, organizing, efficiency).
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.

Responsibilities

• Provide consecutive interpretation between languages, interpreting complete statements and conveying responses.
• Express approximate or exact translations depending on the occasion.
• Interpret and edit written documentation from one language to another.
• Support Japanese coordinators, visitors, and their families with communication and daily living needs, including school and medical interpretation.
• Assist in coordinating team member activities such as company picnics and community events.
• Assist Human Resource management with special projects.
• Be available to support urgent interpretation needs on an as-needed basis.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.
