About The Position

Hawaiian Building Maintenance is hiring a full-time Custodial/Housekeeping employee in the Manoa area of Honolulu, Oahu. The role involves maintaining clean, safe, and welcoming indoor and outdoor common areas. The position has a 40-hour work week, scheduled 3:30 PM to 12:00 AM Friday through Tuesday, and pays $18.00 per hour. Training is available for applicants without prior janitorial or custodial experience. Employees must be able to work in all weather conditions and perform physical cleaning and manual-labor tasks, including extended standing and walking and frequently lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying items weighing 30 to 50 pounds. The role requires communicating and following instructions in English, working independently and with a team, and reporting maintenance or repair needs to a supervisor.

Requirements

Pass the HBM prescreen check.
Communicate effectively and comprehend English; follow verbal and written instructions in English.
Work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Have strong public relations and communication skills.
Be capable of basic manual labor and cleaning common areas, including frequently lifting, pushing, pressing, pulling, and carrying at least 30 pounds and up to 50 pounds.
Be able to reach overhead, grasp objects, bend, kneel, crawl, squat, climb, stretch, walk up and down stairs, use elevators, climb ladders, and stand throughout shifts.
Stand and walk for extended periods.
Work in all weather conditions.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous janitorial or custodian experience preferred; training is available.

Responsibilities

Maintain cleanliness in common areas, including the ground floor, lobby and front desk, vending areas, corridors, lounges, kitchen and dining areas, laundry and utility rooms, elevators, restrooms, offices, stairwells, ramps, benches, planters, sidewalks, landscape areas around the building perimeter, bicycle shed, landing areas, janitorial closets, and driveway and parking lot.
Sweep, dust, mop, and vacuum indoor areas and use a handheld leaf blower outdoors.
Clean restrooms and restock supplies.
Disinfect frequently touched surfaces.
Collect and dispose of trash in designated areas; lift trash from bins, move through staircases, and push trash bins as needed.
Report maintenance or repair needs to a supervisor.
Perform additional tasks assigned by an H.B.M. supervisor.
