About The Position

Hawaiian Building Maintenance is hiring dependable Custodial/Housekeeping team members to help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. The position is full-time, based in Manoa, Honolulu, Oahu, and pays $18.00 per hour. The schedule is 3:30 PM to 12:00 AM, Friday through Tuesday, for a 40-hour work week. The role involves cleaning indoor and outdoor common areas, including lobbies, corridors, lounges, kitchens and dining areas, laundry and utility rooms, elevators, restrooms, offices, stairwells, ramps, outdoor seating and landscape areas, bicycle sheds, janitorial closets, and parking areas. Employees use standard cleaning methods and equipment, replenish restroom supplies, disinfect frequently touched surfaces, dispose of trash, and report maintenance or repair needs. Training is available.

Requirements

Pass the HBM prescreen check.
Communicate effectively and comprehend English, including following verbal and written instructions.
Work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Have strong public relations and communication skills.
Perform basic manual labor and cleaning tasks, including frequently lifting, pushing, pressing, pulling, and carrying at least 30 pounds and up to 50 pounds.
Reach overhead, grasp objects, bend, kneel, crawl, squat, climb, stretch, walk up and down stairs, use elevators, climb ladders, and stand throughout shifts.
Stand and walk for extended periods.
Be willing to work in all weather conditions.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous janitorial or custodial experience; training is available.

Responsibilities

Maintain cleanliness in the building’s indoor and outdoor common areas, including the lobby, corridors, lounges, kitchen and dining areas, laundry and utility rooms, elevators, restrooms, offices, stairwells, ramps, benches, planters, sidewalks, landscape areas, bicycle shed, landing areas, janitorial closets, and driveway and parking lot.
Sweep, dust, mop, and vacuum indoor areas, and use a handheld leaf blower in outdoor areas.
Clean restrooms and restock supplies.
Disinfect frequently touched surfaces.
Collect and dispose of trash in designated areas.
Lift trash from bins, push trash bins as needed, and navigate staircases.
Report maintenance or repair needs to a supervisor.
Perform additional tasks assigned by an H.B.M. supervisor.
