About The Position

The Janitor maintains a clean, organized store environment, with a focus on floor care. The role operates floor-cleaning equipment and performs cleaning and recovery tasks throughout the store, while following operational, merchandise, health and safety, and loss-prevention standards. The position is scheduled Saturday and Sunday, 7 a.m. to 11 a.m., and may be cross-trained in other store areas to support business needs.

The Janitor supports a positive store culture and customer experience, communicates effectively with management and Associates, and helps maintain a safe environment. The position is based at Marshalls Store 0488 in Blaine, Minnesota.

Requirements

• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule to support business needs.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Physical stamina to perform cleaning tasks and operate a floor buffer and scrubber.
• Ability to multitask and respond appropriately to changes in direction or unexpected situations.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including listening and responding appropriately.
• Ability to lift heavy objects with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to work effectively with peers and supervisors.

Responsibilities

• Maintain floor-care cleanliness standards, including maintaining and operating the scrubber and buffer.
• Dust mop, damp mop, sweep, vacuum, dust, and spot-clean glass and windows.
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and recovery standards throughout the Sales Floor, Single Queue, Associate Lounge, Backroom, and Restrooms.
• Follow company health and safety policies, including refilling essential items in the Lounge, Restrooms, and Front End.
• Cross-train in other store areas, including the Backroom, Front End, and Sales Floor, to support business needs.
• Support and respond to Front End coverage needs.
• Follow merchandising philosophy and signage standards.
• Initiate and participate in store recovery throughout the day as needed.
• Follow operational and loss-prevention controls, including shrink-reduction guidelines and policies.
• Communicate accurately and effectively with management and Associates.
• Follow labor laws and company policies and procedures, including Associate meal and break-period policies.
• Participate in safety awareness and maintain a safe environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
