About The Position

The Janitor cleans assigned areas in commercial and government facilities to an acceptable level of quality. The role requires working knowledge of janitorial terminology and the ability to complete tasks within established time standards. The Janitor maintains cleanliness and safety, sanitizes restrooms, performs floor and specialized cleaning, and supports warehouse tasks as needed. Work must comply with agency policies, safety standards, regulatory requirements, and performance standards subject to government inspection.

Requirements

• Ability to read or identify chemical names and labels on containers.
• Experience using janitorial chemicals and mechanical equipment properly.
• Must be able to pass a criminal background check and random drug screens.
• Must have reliable transportation to and from work locations.
• Ability to perform the essential duties satisfactorily, with reasonable accommodation where needed.
• Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to adapt to diverse audiences.
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to document procedures and workflows clearly.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and complete projects and assignments in a timely manner.

• Regularly lift or move up to 10 pounds, frequently up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
• Requires close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, clean environment through high and low dusting, vacuuming, and emptying trash.
• Clean and sanitize restroom fixtures to meet health and safety standards.
• Perform dust mopping, wet mopping, stripping, scrubbing, and carpet spot cleaning.
• Clean computer rooms and glass surfaces, and polish furniture, chrome, and stainless steel.
• Follow agency policies, safety standards, and applicable requirements, including CARF, OSHA, and Department of Labor requirements.
• Maintain performance standards subject to inspection by government officials.
• Assist with bailing cardboard, returning empty skids, and cleaning spills in stocking aisles as required.
