About The Position

The Janitor maintains cleanliness in campus facilities to support an environment conducive to teaching, learning, and living. The position also supports College programming through event setups, breakdowns, and moves. The schedule is Saturday and Sunday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for 16 hours per week. The pay rate is $23.93 per hour.

Requirements

One year of experience in the maintenance and care of facilities in a similar environment.
Ability to move, position, transport, and place objects weighing up to 75 pounds.
Ability to work on ladders, ascend and descend ladders, and use a Genie lift.
Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license for at least two years.
Ability to communicate effectively in English, including understanding, speaking, reading, and writing.
Willingness to work overtime as available; overtime is assigned according to seniority guidelines.

Responsibilities

Clean restrooms, bathrooms, public spaces, classrooms, offices, and locker and shower rooms; student rooms are cleaned annually.
Perform floor care, including vacuuming, mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing, and carpet shampooing, and perform operator maintenance on equipment.
Use light and heavy commercial floor machines and attachments.
Set up and break down College events.
Move heavy furniture, supplies, and miscellaneous equipment as requested.
Collect trash and recyclable material.
Shovel snow from steps and walks, including when the College is closed due to inclement weather.
Change light bulbs, except under specialized conditions.
Inspect fire extinguishers monthly.
Respond to after-hours and weekend emergencies when assigned overtime.
