About The Position

The Janitor keeps office, commercial, or institutional premises clean and orderly. The position cleans assigned areas such as offices, classrooms, hallways, lobbies, breakrooms or cafeterias, restrooms, elevators, stairways, and locker rooms. The schedule is Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to midnight, Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., and Saturday from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The hourly rate is $13.00. The work location is 1033 E Washington St Central, Indianapolis, IN 46202. Candidates must pass a pre-employment background check. The job involves moderate to hard physical work and regular exposure to dust, dirt, debris, and airborne dust particles; slippery floors and moving mechanical parts of floor-cleaning equipment are also present. Requirements

No degree or credential is required.

Nice To Haves

Perform janitorial cleaning by hand, such as removing dust from furniture, blinds, and windowsills; sweeping and mopping floors; and cleaning and disinfecting bathrooms.
Learn to properly use janitorial tools and equipment, including dust cloths, vacuum cleaners, and cleaning chemical solutions.
Operate riding and walk-behind scrubbers and other floor-care equipment according to manufacturer instructions to clean carpets and scrub hard floors.

Responsibilities

Clean and disinfect furniture and equipment.
Polish metalwork.
Wipe down walls, ceilings, and woodwork.
Wash windows, door panels, and sills.
Empty wastebaskets and ashtrays, and clean ashtrays.
Transport trash and waste to the disposal area.
Replenish bathroom supplies.
Communicate with Goodwill management and customers when appropriate and as needed.
Transport small equipment or tools between departments.
Set up tables and chairs in auditoriums or halls.
Clean and polish lighting fixtures, marble surfaces, and trim.
Sweep, scrub, wax, and polish floors.
Clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies.
