About The Position

The Janitor performs cleaning and other janitorial duties at a mall, helping ensure the site is clean and ready for opening and cleaned at closing time. The role includes routine cleaning, waste removal, keeping sidewalks and walkways free of litter, and maintaining washrooms. The employee must use cleaning supplies and equipment appropriately and follow applicable procedures when handling hazardous materials and blood-borne pathogens.

Requirements

• Working knowledge of building-cleaning practices, supplies, and equipment.
• Familiarity with the proper use of cleaning chemicals in compliance with regulations.
• Understanding of hazardous-material and blood-borne-pathogen disposal procedures.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Sweep and mop floors, and clean walls and windows.
• Maintain washroom cleanliness, conduct hourly checks, and restock supplies.
• Remove garbage from waste containers throughout the mall and clean litter from walkways.
• Keep sidewalks clear of garbage.
• Use appropriate cleaning practices, supplies, and equipment.
• Handle and dispose of hazardous materials and blood-borne pathogens according to state and federal regulations.
• Help ensure the mall is ready for opening and cleaned at closing time.
• Perform other janitorial duties as required.
