About The Position

The Janitor, Retail maintains a clean, safe, and welcoming Goodwill of Colorado retail store or outlet, ensuring assigned spaces meet or exceed the organization’s hygiene and presentation standards. The role performs assigned janitorial tasks and provides courteous customer service. Duties may extend beyond those listed and include additional responsibilities as required.

The position may require a varied schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays, with occasional overtime as necessary. It requires prolonged standing, bending, and lifting during the workday. Requirements

• Ability to read and understand directions for using and properly disposing of cleaning solutions.
• Ability to follow Goodwill and OSHA safety protocols for chemical use and waste disposal.
• Ability to stay on track and complete duties in a timely manner.
• Ability to withstand prolonged standing, bending, and lifting for up to eight hours per day.
• Ability to work a varied schedule that includes weekends, evenings, and holidays, with occasional overtime as necessary.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers, managers, supervisors, staff, and peers.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• One year of previous custodial experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Clean and disinfect assigned restrooms, employee break areas, and public areas.
• Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using appropriate cleaning materials and equipment.
• Sweep and mop floors to address slip, trip, and fall hazards promptly.
• As needed, vacuum and steam-clean carpets and rugs, dust furniture, polish fixtures, and remove marks or stains from walls and other surfaces.
• Clean and dust store fixtures as required.
• As needed, perform additional floor maintenance, such as applying wax or sealant, buffing, stripping, and top-scrubbing floors.
• Remove trash from offices, restrooms, and other areas in and around the assigned store.
• Follow Goodwill and OSHA safety protocols for chemical use and waste disposal, including using and mixing cleaning agents according to standards.
• Move heavy furniture when needed to clean surrounding areas.
• As needed, shovel snow or ice from sidewalks and apply salt to reduce slip, trip, and fall hazards.
• Work collaboratively with the team and direct customers to the appropriate department or team member when needed.
• Report missing or damaged items and maintenance needs promptly.
• Follow Goodwill policies, procedures, and the employee handbook.
• Help maintain a safe working environment for self, customers, and coworkers.
• Escalate issues or concerns to store management promptly.
