About The Position

The Janitor & Facility Assistant is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, organized, and member-ready environment throughout Carbon Performance. This position plays a critical role in the overall member experience by ensuring all areas of the facility consistently meet Carbon Performance standards for cleanliness and presentation. In addition to daily janitorial responsibilities, this role will assist the management team with general facility upkeep, supply management, preventative facility checks, and identifying maintenance concerns before they negatively impact the member experience. This is a hands-on position requiring strong attention to detail, consistency, reliability, and the ability to independently prioritize cleaning and facility needs throughout the club.

Requirements

  • Previous janitorial, commercial cleaning, housekeeping, or facility maintenance experience preferred.
  • Experience working in a fitness facility, hospitality environment, large commercial property, or other high-traffic environment is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to recognize cleanliness or maintenance concerns without constant direction.
  • Dependable, punctual, and capable of working independently.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize tasks in a busy facility.
  • Strong communication skills and willingness to communicate facility concerns to management.
  • Comfortable using commercial cleaning chemicals, vacuums, mops, scrubbers, and other janitorial equipment.
  • Willingness to work around members and provide professional, courteous service when interacting with members or staff.
  • Ability to remain active and on your feet for extended periods.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, squat, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive cleaning tasks.
  • Ability to safely lift and move cleaning supplies, trash, equipment, and other facility-related items.
  • Ability to operate standard commercial cleaning equipment.
  • Ability to work in wet environments including locker rooms, showers, and recovery areas.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and maintain entrances, lobby areas, hallways, offices, common areas, and other member-facing spaces.
  • Dust and wipe down counters, desks, ledges, furniture, doors, and other horizontal surfaces.
  • Spot clean fingerprints, spills, smudges, and other visible marks throughout the facility.
  • Clean entrance doors, glass partitions, drinking fountains, and water filling stations.
  • Empty indoor and exterior trash receptacles and replace liners as necessary.
  • Regularly disinfect high-touch surfaces, including door handles, light switches, and other frequently used areas.
  • Perform scheduled high and low dusting, including vents, door frames, ceiling corners, baseboards, furniture, and wall-mounted televisions.
  • Maintain janitorial closets and cleaning equipment in a clean and organized condition.
  • Vacuum, sweep, or dust mop hard flooring throughout the facility.
  • Vacuum carpeted mats and other carpeted areas.
  • Detail floor edges, corners, areas along walls, and spaces between gym equipment.
  • Mop lobby, smoothie bar, kitchen, restroom, locker room, and other required hard-floor areas.
  • Spot mop spills, debris, and high-traffic areas throughout the day.
  • Perform scheduled deep mopping and floor scrubbing.
  • Clean baseboards and entrance thresholds.
  • Assist with periodic deep floor cleaning using appropriate cleaning equipment.
  • Clean and disinfect cardio equipment.
  • Dust and routinely disinfect stationary fitness equipment, machines, benches, and weight racks.
  • Spot clean mirrors throughout the fitness floor and complete scheduled full mirror cleaning.
  • Clean around and between fitness equipment.
  • Wipe down larger facility structures and equipment surfaces as scheduled.
  • Identify damaged, loose, malfunctioning, or unsafe equipment and immediately communicate concerns to management.
  • Clean and disinfect toilets, urinals, sinks, countertops, fixtures, dispensers, and mirrors.
  • Clean and sanitize restroom partitions, walls, doors, handles, and other high-touch areas.
  • Sweep and mop restroom and locker room floors using appropriate disinfecting products.
  • Clean and disinfect shower stalls, including walls, floors, fixtures, and grout.
  • Remove and clean underneath drain grates and clear accessible drain traps in showers and cold-plunge areas.
  • Wipe down sauna interiors and clean sauna glass.
  • Clean the inside and outside of lockers on a scheduled basis.
  • Restock soap, paper products, and other restroom supplies.
  • Refill soap and lotion dispensers as necessary.
  • Perform scheduled deep cleaning of showers, locker rooms, restroom walls, floors, partitions, and grout.
  • Clean and disinfect countertops, tabletops, sinks, chairs, and other surfaces.
  • Clean fronts of counters and other commonly touched surfaces.
  • Wipe down refrigerators and clean microwaves.
  • Remove trash and maintain a clean and organized café/kitchen environment.
  • Complete scheduled deep cleaning of sinks, table bases, chair legs, and other fixtures.
  • Assist in maintaining employee breakrooms and administrative areas.
  • Pick up visible trash and debris around entrances and designated outdoor areas.
  • Maintain outdoor turf areas and other exterior member spaces.
  • Clean outdoor tables and chairs.
  • Empty exterior trash receptacles.
  • Notify management of exterior cleanliness, safety, landscaping, or facility concerns requiring additional attention.
  • Conduct routine walkthroughs of the facility to identify cleanliness, maintenance, safety, or presentation concerns.
  • Immediately address minor cleanliness issues discovered during facility walkthroughs.
  • Communicate maintenance or repair needs to management and assist with tracking outstanding facility issues.
  • Monitor janitorial and restroom supply levels and notify management when items need to be reordered.
  • Organize and maintain cleaning products, equipment, paper products, trash liners, soap, and other facility supplies.
  • Assist with receiving, organizing, and storing facility-related deliveries when needed.
  • Support management with basic facility projects, deep cleans, event preparation, and other operational needs.
  • Help ensure all member-facing spaces remain organized and presentation-ready throughout operating hours.
  • Report leaks, damaged fixtures, clogged drains, lighting issues, equipment concerns, or other potential facility problems as soon as they are identified.
  • Assist with other reasonable facility and operational duties assigned by management.
  • Maintain a scheduled cleaning program that includes daily/each shift, weekly, and monthly/quarterly tasks.
  • Take ownership of the condition of the facility.
