Part Time Jail Control Room Operator
About The Position
The City of Cape Girardeau is accepting applications for one part-time Jail Control Room Operator. This hourly, non-exempt position assists with the safe and secure operation of the department’s jail facility by monitoring jail security systems, operating electronic security controls, and maintaining communication with correctional officers and jail staff. The position is primarily assigned to the evening shift, 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., and offers some scheduling flexibility. The schedule is approximately 16 to 24 hours per week. Employees must be available to work weekdays and weekends; availability on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday evenings is strongly preferred. Applicants selected to participate in the hiring process will complete an oral interview and be subject to a background investigation. Finalists must undergo a pre-employment drug screen. The position is open until filled.
Requirements
- Possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent by the date of employment.
- Have no felony convictions.
- Have strong communication and multitasking skills.
- Be comfortable using computers and various software applications.
- Be available to work both weekdays and weekends.
- Complete an oral interview if selected to participate in the hiring process.
- Undergo a background investigation.
- Undergo a pre-employment drug screen if selected as a finalist.

- Availability on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday evenings is strongly preferred.
