IVA Spacesuit Systems Engineer

Amentum•Houston, TX

About The Position

Amentum is seeking an IVA Spacesuit Systems Engineer to support NASA deep-space exploration projects as a practicing systems engineer. The role develops systems-engineering lifecycle artifacts, applies systems-engineering principles and practices, and supports or leads activities from early concept development and trade studies through design, integration, testing, verification and validation, operations, and sustainment. The engineer works closely with customers, technical leads, team members, NASA organizations, support contractors, and HLS commercial partners. The position supports defining stakeholder needs; decomposing system functions; developing technical requirements; defining and negotiating interfaces; performing design and system analyses; and planning and executing verification, validation, testing, and operations activities. Work also includes developing and modeling concepts, requirements flow-down and verification, concept-of-operations materials, software V&V plans, risk statements and responses, technology roadmaps and integration plans, and reviewing milestone documentation and hazard analyses. The engineer attends project meetings, provides summaries and status updates, participates in trade studies and stakeholder reviews, and performs other duties as required. The position is generally based in an office environment, though tasks may involve indoor or outdoor work. It requires regular attendance and may require schedule adjustments for peak periods and surge requirements. Proof of U.S. citizenship or permanent residency may be required, and the candidate must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
